Divorce Papers Question

Hi there,

My ex lives in CA and I live with the two kids in Florida. We finally rec'd "final judgment/dissolution of marriage" papers on Friday. They are xerox copies from my attorney (we went thru only my attorney), nothing with "official stamps" or anything from the court. Is that normal? My ex is putting up a fuss because of it.

There should be some sort of officiality of it. Xeroxed copies from your lawyer are not official.

The court generally takes 30 days or more to get such papers out. So the lawyer may have sent what the court WILL be making official ahead of time. If it hasn't been 30 days, ex needs to wait before having a hissy fit.

Did either of you show up in court for the final hearing? I went to mine and walked away with a "sealed" copy.
