LAZY LAWYERS
      #271789 - 08/06/07 10:43 AM

I'm seeing a lot of stories lately that seem to that indicate that a lot of people in these forums have lazy lawyers. Listen up people . . .

YOUR LAWYER WORKS FOR YOU!! It's not the other way around. if you have to remind them occassionaly, then do so. Do not be intimidated by lawyers. There are good ones, average ones, and bad ones. But, generally speaking, they're a dime a dozen. Learn how to spot the jerks before they spend too much of your money.

How do you spot a lazy lawyer?

I found it extremely difficult to get any information on lawyers performance. I ended up going to one who had offices closer to the court house. Not a good criteria, but I couldn't find any other means of evaluation.

1) Just think of a lazy co-worker you might have known and see if your lawyer resembles them. Are there a lot of mistakes on documents composed by their office? Will they provide you with a reasonable description of their billing
procsesses up front? Do they get back to you within a reasonable amount of time? Etc . . .

If your lawyer is lazy and you get another lawyer, do you get your retainer back?

Probably not for the amount of work they've already done.
