go Trick or Treating...my DD11 still wants to go but I think she may be a bit old...though she is very small for her age so people probably wouldn't think she was more than 9. My DD4 and DS3 are going and I'm just up in the air about DD11. What do you guys think is too old??? Also...any good costume ideas for them?

We are all Pirates this year. Got costumes at Walmart already. We waited too late last year and mommy had to get creative. (Bob and Wendy the builder)
If the younger ones are going it won't hurt the older one to go to.
That said -I loooove Halloween. It is my b-day.

I say let the child decide.
I love halloween too. It is my favorite holiday.
For ever it seems, all the nieces and nephews have come to our house for halloween. So many have grown past it now and it leaves an empty space inside of me.
I always hooked the trailer up and covered it with blankets and chairs. We made the rounds thru my neighborhood.
Everyone around here treats halloween almost like christmas. Lots of decoration and haunted houses, neighborhood participation. We always have a blast.
The kids always ask if I am gonna do another haunted house. I am twisted, I love to scare the shiznit out of 'em!! My house has been well known for a little haunted house every year. I am always Jason, with my hockey mask and big plastic meat cleaver. I do it all in a two car garage.
The neighbors will sit outside handing out treats just to watch what is going on at my house. I don't scare little ones, but the bigger kids and the parents better watch out!
I cannot (literally) count the number of people who have gone running down my driveway screaming for their life!
I am a sick puppy.....................!!

Not a sick puppy, just a fun person. DD11 WANTS to go...when I told her I thought she might be too old she got a little down and said "I HATE growin up" LOL. I'll probably let her go...I think my last year was like 14 heh. So much candy, so little time. HEhehe...
I sitll gotta figure out costumes...I thought about the little ones going as Dora and Diego...but I think that's gonna be REALLY played out this year...I wanted something original...That's the hardest part of holidays...DECISIONS!!!!!!

11 is not too old. We get kids coming to the house that are teenagers. If she wants to do it, what is the harm?

You know mad, funny you bring that up (teens) because my mom used to talk about the visitors she got on halloween years ago while still living in an area on sharp decline. She has since moved.
It was, she said, like this.
Knock on door. She opens door. Sees chest or stomach (mom isn't tall) eyes keep traveling up. No costume, with pillowcase in hand, young man says "Yo man" <takes draw from cigarette> "trik-a-treat".
This is losing alot in the translation here but if you could see my mom reinact it....piss your pants funny!!!

HAHA I can only imagine...I've seen a lot of kids that don't bother dressing up. Yeah I think I'm gonna let DD11 go...what's the harm. Now if we could just come up with costumes

Hello JustmeAndThree, I think because of the younger kids it is okay for her to go also. I know my daughter was a help with my younger son and he enjoyed her going. They got dressed up together and if was a family thing that we all enjoyed. A girlfriend and I walked around with both our kids and it was really a fun time. I think the kids at a certain age starts to feel uncomfortable and they will say they don't want to go. That is how my kids did they are now 14 and 17. Enjoy them while they are still young!

My daughter is 14 now and still wants to go. I'm not sure if I'll let her this year. I let her last year at 13.

I would let her go. I used to hate it when the 14-15-16 year olds would come T-or-T because "I" thought they were too old, but then I thought maybe they just don't want to grow up either.....
I love Halloween too. Just wish I had my son with me. It's MY favorite holiday of the year too & I dress up as a witch to hand out candy. I don't even have son the w/end before so can't do *anything* with him.
