I'm currently paying my required child support along with the arrears each month as directed by the courts. I work in retail as a vendor and often have to puzzle about three jobs altogether just to make a paycheck. Even with my primary job, I from time to time may take on extra work projects which may be seasonal or part-time. It appears that every time I start a new job the child support enforcement agency sends out a new court order garnishment withholding request for child support to the new employer. I already pay the required amount from my primary job but now their trying to take even more money from any other jobs I start. There has not been a revision or a new court order for more money because I was never notified of any such increases etc. Anyway, once the new employer gets the withholding order notice, they alert me of the matter and then I have end up calling the case worker just so they can then work on stopping the withholding order. The termination process is done by mail and can take 2 or even 3 weeks before the money stops being taking out. This is a real headache to go through over again when I already pay the required amount from my primary job. From what I have been able to research the process goes like this... If a person whom owes child support and it's court ordered no matter who you are or how many jobs you have there's some kind of computer system that alerts the child support enforcement agency that you have a new job. This process is done by the person's social security number. The system then alerts the child support enforcement agency that you have started a new job thus having the child support enforcement agency send out a withholding order notice automatically for child support to any employer in America no matter where you live or work. Then only should the non-custodial parent call the case worker and request that the withholding order be removed/stopped if infact the non-custodial parent is in excellent terms with the court order such as myself. With that being said the end result is at a 100% success rate. I've come to the conclusion that this should not be happening to me and if anyone knows anything that I don't already know then please do bring it to the table now and share you're experience in regards to the matter. There's got to be away to fight this and I want to know how if any. It just doesn't make any since when I'm already paying the court order amount and it's being garnished already as ordered from the court.

New hires are reported to CSE and yes, they have everything setup to go out by computer. They won't have a way of telling the system not to send it, and they deal with so many, there's no way for anyone to watch for it. You COULD try calling them the day you accept the new job and maybe someone could watch for it for that short time. I dunno.

You are not the type of person this system is set up for. It's because of all of the people who are ordered to pay support and don't and job hop as a way to get out of it. It stinks that you have to suffer because of those who don't meet their obligations, but I'd do what AH suggested. call them when you take another job and alert them. If they know ahead of time they may be able to flag something that says you are not changing jobs but starting an additional job.

I'm sure this is really frustrating. But you can thank all those parents out there who failed to support their children....because of them, such a system was started.
