Child Support System - Government
      #392666 - 04/22/08 10:38 AM

Ive read about this before but still dont get it. How does the CS system/ alimoney system benefit the government if the ordered amount goes directly to the recipient. I would think that no one profits from it. I just read a complain arcticle that the governments reap lots of money from the system. How so? Can someone explain?

There is usually an administrative fee added to the amount ordered. That is how they get theirs. My x pays 139.10 (when he pays) and a admin fee of 2.19 is taken out of his check (when they find his employer).

States are encouraged to increase child suport collections based on Federal Law that provides proceeds to the state based on the amounts that are collected.

It's all just a way for the state to make a little extra dough. I would say 99.99% of employers would not ignore a witholding order from a court to be paid directly to the CP, bypassing CSE.

CSE exist really for one reason and that is to generate revenue for the state.

Garnishment should be the standard and not an option.

a fee added to his withholding. I haven't seen his pay stub since all this took place, but I remember it being mentioned. Since his agency charges the fee, HE pays it.

The state is matched by the Federal goverment for each dollar of support they collect. Their "profit" is made from the Federal goverment.

And then some from the payers or payees. For example, I am charged $25/year for the collection service.

Ok, the fact that states get a revenue from this explains a lot. Does federal government provide funds for the CS program for states

Your saying the payee has to pay a little extra if it is deducted from his/her paycheck?
