I learnt from my abusive ex that, even if I ever did know "why" he did it, I wouldn't feel any less hurt. Fact is, "why" someone does something doesn't matter so much as the fact that they DID do it..

It sounds as if she's just trying to use you. Since you've already gone through the divorce, perhaps it's time to let her go and move on yourself.
Often we never understand all of the details of an affair or the reasons for it. However, once you've decided to move on, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to forgive her. A good way to do this is to tell her something like, "we're not getting back together, but I forgive you."
This will help you move past the anger and the hurt. It's an important step in truly beginning your new life.
