When does it end?
      #419542 - 06/25/08 07:51 PM

Following on from a couple of other posts, when does CS end in your household... in how many years? Either when does your household stop paying or when does your household stop recieving it?

Me first.... DH's CS lowers in Jan 2010 when OSS turns 19. It stops completely in Dec 2011 when YSS turns 19. The silly thing is OSS graduates highschool next summer. So we will have an additional 7 months to pay once he is out of school just like Susan's Ray.

I don't pay CS nor recieve it. MrX and I cannot see the point sending money across the world when the amount is eaten up by bank fees or lost in the exchange rate every month.

If I can't be part of the solution I insist on being most of the problem

My SO's CS obligation ends in Sept. 2011. CS is to age 18 or graduates high school which ever is first. The state the order is in doesn't require parents to pay for higher education. It's unlikely his child will go to college, but if she does he will have to decide to help or not depending upon her choices and his income.

I stop receiving CS in June 2010

DH should stop paying CS in Sept 2011. (But, That's only if SS graduates in June 2011 like he's supposed to.)
Edited to add: DH's CS child support should end when the child turns 18. (SEPT 2011) However, if a child is 18 and is still in high school, then until the child turns 19 (Sept 2012) or graduates high school (June 2012 if he fails), whichever comes first.

Ex's for first child will end in 2022, assuming she's in college and not emancipated. If she is.. 2019.

DD, whatever he is contributing would stop at 18. Neither of us believe in this "til 21" business. So 2024.
If we followed the guideline til 21, 2027.

Ex pays no child support. But, I do get Social Security for the kids based upon his account.

It will end for DD when she turns 18 (January 2015), which is 4 months before she'll graduate high school. It will end for DS whe he turns 18 (July 2016), which is 10 months before he will graduate high school.

So, basically, I'll be on the hook for the most expensive year of school they'll have.

DH's CS will end in a little less than 5 years (completely) when SD graduates at 18. It will go down in less than 2 years when SS graduates (he will be almost 19), and then again a year later when SS15 graduates.

I will stop receiving CS (as in current CS, not arrearages) in about 8 years. He will still have to pay the arrearages if he hasn't already though.

NYS CS goes until 21 unless the child is deemed emancipated. If SD decided after HS to sit home and do nothing DH still pays CS. If she decides to work PT and that's it DH still pays CS till 21.

I hope NYS changes those laws! SD is 16.5 if the law was till graduation DH would have 2 more years left. With the law being 21, he has 4.5 more years left. Although I do not see SD sticking around in her BM's home till 21.

Even if they changed it, it wouldn't affect existing orders would it? The timeframes on the orders are the timeframes, no?

Husband's youngest turns 18 in September, but who's counting <g>. Gratefully, he's not ordered in CA to pay for college - if the situation were different, we'd help, but no contact for several years but we did get an email after about 4 years from his ex the other day demanding we buy their daughter a new car as she graduated college on the six year plan - nice of her to demand that given she didn't invite dad to graduation and hasn't spoken to him in years.....she'll still get a portion of his military retirement till one of them dies (1/3).
