I think it depends on the level of involvement of the other bioparent. If the bioparent is absent, I could understand a stepparent becoming very involved. But, if both bioparents are involved in the child's life, the stepparent is not on equal footing as the bio parents.
I would be very annoyed if my ex allowed or encouraged my dd to call another woman "mom". I would be very annoyed if my ex allowed another woman deal with problems or issues regarding dd. My ex and I are the parents. Mind you, if the problem or issue is a minor one, that is one thing but if it is major, my ex and I should be dealing with it.
