My ex changed lawyers a couple of months ago and now her new lawyer is her brother-in-law. I am sure he is not charging her a cent to represent her therefore she keeps the problems going and it is not costing her anything, however it costs me a fortune with my lawyer. We have been divorced since December 07 and she is still making problems for me.
Can a relative be your lawyer? Also, my ex's lawyer is a real estate lawyer, i have never known him to practice family law. Do lawyers need to have some sort of certification in family law in order to practice it? Or can anyone who's a lawyer be a family law attorney?
I am looking for anything that can discredit my ex brother-in-law to get him thrown off the case.

She can have her BIL file motions. She could do it herself, pro se. It sounds like she is trying to make it costly for you so you will give her what she wants. It also sounds like her plan is working.

Perhaps you should file to have her pay your attorney's fees since she continues to drag you needlessly through the court. The guy who went up to the judge before we did got his paid for because the ex had a history of "creating" issues just to cost him money.

How does one prove that the other side is 'creating' issues just to cost money? My stbxh is doing that to me. He is the one writing all the motions - his lawyer just signs and files them so it costs him very little, but I incur great cost to have my lawyer answer them.
Thanks.
