Lawyer

I have talked to a couple lawyers and found one I like fairly well (he took the time to reply to all my questions via e-mail) but am still not sure if he is my best choice.

How does one go about finding a lawyer? Biggest issue for me is one who won't roll over and accept sole custody of the kids to my wife. What questions do I need to ask?

My lawyer's retainer fee is $5k, which (at his rate of $200/hr) gives me 25 hours of work.

My best advise is to make sure that your lawyer knows that he is working for you. You should set the tone, make him very aware of what you want, and what is not that important to you. Also make sure it is one that you can communicate with and keeps you informed

I agree with first post.
I met with 3 people and 1 I really clicked with. He understands what I need and how quickly I want this done. I was also looking for experience, mine has 36 years of divorce only. I'm paying $300 hr, but if I can get out ASAP with minimal damage I will be happy to pay.

My best advice is to find a lawyer that shares your idea of strategy and how you wish to approach the case. Nothing is worse than fighting the other side and your own lawyer. That connection is as inmportant as experience and fees.
