I called the police on my wife 3 times after she came over and assualted me and threated me with running me over. We live seperatly... But can someone explain to me why the police recommended pfa, the oncall judge did, one judge granted the temp pfa and then at the hearing th judge released it with her denying doing all the assualts and threats? It seems he felt I need to be put in the hospital or not block her hits. If I were a woman would the PFA have stuck? Were my rights as a man violated? There were also various threats from her father and boyfriends. I it crazy to me that I need to buy a firearm to protect myself from her gun totting father, her or her nutty boyfriends. Why do I have to pay taxes and by a gun to protect myself? Isn't that the job of the law?

Actually, your declaration should have been enough - it was for my H and he had no evidence or documentation of any kind - cuz it never happened - sometimes you have to let the bad stuff happen, document it and then call the authorities - i NEVER would have and never did, because Im not the kind of person to call the cops on my spouse even tho it was him abusing me....so it's not cuz ur a man, or maybe it is the state you're in - but just document it and then u'll get some protection, or at least a peice of paper saying that you have rights you dont have now - best of luck - its a very hard positon to be in....

I have had 2 temp pfa's against my ex, i was told not to try fo the real one because he hadn't hurt me yet.Its a crazy system, and doesn't make alot of sense. He now has one against me, and he is the stalker and harasser. I think we have to be shot or run over before they care.

I'm a police officer and I have dealt with PFA's quite a bit. PFA's are easy to get and I've seen the agressors in the situations get PFA's on the non-agressor just to be a pain in the a$$. I would have to say that there are lot of people that think that women can't do harm to men. In some cases it seems that it is harder for the men. I've had to arrest men before because they had a PFA against the woman and she came to his house and was getting in his face and he pushed her out of his face. I definitely agree with you that you shouldn't have to be injured or threatened a thousand times before a judge takes it serious.

From what I've gathered online, it seems the ability to get a PFA depends on location. Seems it's harder in some states than others. Most people seem to think it is easy as pie to get one. And from personal experience, in the state of VA, it is. However, other states have made it harder for people to get them.

I agree with Ryan..there are persons whom get PFA's only to piss off the other person and maybe this is why the judge released it. But, if you can continue to document what it is that she's doing, then maybe they will take the situation more serious. Good Luck

---> Hold on a sec...SHE violated the restraining order, invaded his personal space and you arrested HIM!?! Something wrong with that.
