I got a divorce three years ago, and now I just can’t afford to pay everything by myself. I have two kids, both in elementary school, my ex husband lives out of state, and he isn’t much help…
I have $26,700 in credit card bills dating back a couple years, with a couple companies. I own my home, but am getting near the “upside-down” point. I think it may be time to think about bankruptcy or some type of debt solution because I just cannot do it anymore.
I know there are two types of bankruptcy: one that provides for forgiveness of all debt, including credit cards, and one that sets up payment plans for the credit cards.
How can I ensure I file the right type of bankruptcy – the one that will allow me to get rid of ALL my credit card debt?
A friend suggested seeing a Bankruptcy Attorney in San Diego, or maybe reviewing a local San Diego Debt Solution Company. Any thoughts?

first of all why should your XH help you with your CC debt? That ship sailed when you 2 split. Time to put your big girl panties on and get a 2nd job. I swear!!! Fools and their money are soon parted has to be the most consistent truth. filing chap 7 or 13 isn't going to help you until you change your habits, aside from that it's VERY hard to qualify for a chap 7 with the new laws.. a chap 13 is moreso a debt consolidation program, as you have to still pay your lenders back. 27k in cc's is gonna take some work, but then again who believes in that anymore?
-------------------- Dear God, I seem to have a defective life. Could I please get a new one?
