Hi Everyone, I need help. I am separated from my husband now for last few months. married almost 19 years. In that time him and his family made sure that absolutely NOTHING is in his name. I lived very well. I lived in million dollar house, drove a lexus, and was very comfortable. During this marriage I was emotionally abused, kept in the dark about finances, he wouldn't let me pursue a career (go to school), fought with me about it, he was controlling, isolated me from family and any friends I tried to make, manipulated me and kids, made me think I was crazy, manipulated my son so much he had such a bad relationship with me from things his father said to him for years that I didn't know about. I was always asking the professionals, Why does he hate me? and that bastard was manipulating him into thinking that I basically didn't care about his feelings. Well, back to my question, Everything is in his mothers name, and he is on disability. Now I'm living in small apartment with my two teenagers who were spoiled by there father and got whatever they wanted, and now I'm struggling to pay my bills. While he is living in the million dolaar home, all by himself. My question is, If nothing is in his name and the home is legally his mothers, do I still have some rights here because of the way we lived? I mean on paper they made sure he has nothing...even the cars are in his mothers name. Kids have trust fund..thats just for them. Him and his family keep saying that if I go to lawyer I'll end up with nothing anyway and lawyers will take all the kids trust fund money...because they will have to use that for lawyers. I'm scared if I go to lawyer it will be worse..becuase right now they are paying the rent (trust fund) but they say legally they don't have to. Meanwhile I'm on disability for lupus and fibromyalgia. Sorry this took so long...any advice out there?
