Annulment and liability
      #55369 - 12/19/05 01:51 PM

Hello, I am trying to find out if I have grounds for a annulment and or if I have any financial liability. I live in the state of Kansas.
My problem is I have been married for only 6 months and I resently found out that my wife has over 27K in credit card debt. She had told me that she only had around 11k. Once we got married she became reluctant to discuse money issues, and I believe this is why. I have also learned that she is still communicating with her former live in boyfriend, which she had stated that they have no contact. And finally I have learned that her values and morals in regards to raising kids are way differant than mine. She allows her 16 year old daughters boyfriend to stay the night. Which is totally againt my beliefs. What it comes down to is she has lied about all these things and now I feel I need to get away....fast!

Advise please!

You need to see a lawyer, and fast.

Her debt was hers before you were married, but anything she acrues now is debt for both of you. Sounds like, even if you file, and pay all legal fees, it will be MUCH cheaper than keeping her around.

Good luck! Whew - aren't you glad you found out this soon?

If they can get an annulment, isn't that the same as saying they were actually never married? That might mean any debt she accrues even during the marriage is still hers.
