I have been married close to ten years. I have moved to North Carolina a few months ago. Prior to our marriage, I had a very through pre marital agreement drwan up and signed by both of us. If I choose to file for divorce, can I do so in N.C. or do I have to go back to Calif. to get the screws put to me. I have no idea how all this works and have not yet contacted an attorney. We were married in Nevada. Also, is there something that ocurs legally when you hit the ten year mark in Ca. Any comments would be appreciated.

>>>>>>>>> You can file in NC after being a resident for 6 months .

>>>>>>>>>> Yup , the presumption under CA law is spousal support not be ordered for more then half the length of the marriage for unions of less then 10 years . After 10 years the presumption is indefinite support .
There is no guarantee that the process will be easier under NC jurisdiction .
