Future ex wife says even after divorce I still pay her auto insurance. Is this true?

If the judge orders it I suppose anything is possible. However - it would be considered spousal support. So the same rules for receiving that would apply.
In general - it is a bad idea to get legal advice from the person you are divorcing. Even if they are actually a lawyer - it is unlikely they would give you good information.

Thanks. While I have been seriously considering divorce I have never brought the subject up. I moved out of house last July; could not take verbal abuse anymore. She insists I pay her allotment of money plus her RV rent plus other expenses and say if we were to get a divorce I would pay half my retirement (which I am prepared for) but also her car insurance. She is living with another man who makes her car payments.

She can get up to half IF the state you divorce in (community property state) gives it to her. In MS my wife will most likely not get any of it most likely and no alimony. Thats because I am will be paying 800 a month in CS and basically all the debt (very high) from the marriage and she doesnt have a job. That is the result of the temp relief hearing and the lawyer says from the way its written, that is what the judge would do also for the final.
Of course that 800 is all my free cash and a little bit more even after the bills so I wont see my kids in texas for about 3.5 years when I pay off the van we bought her last year.
In the long run I will be better off, in the short run, I have really lost the kids. Life goes on, I just hope I can recognize them and them me when I can finally see them.

Not quite accurate. The state could award someone 100% of a retirement or 0%, the amount is entirely up to the deciding court. I persponally know of a case in Oklahoma where the court awarded the former spouse 30% of the retirement, and 30% of disability. That is in violation of federal law, but they did it. He has never paid the disability. The 50% issue is what DFAS will pay to the former spouse as a maximum from the retirement. It will only pay up to 50% of the disposable retirement pay. DFAS cannot direct the courts in any manner. Courts generally follow a few different formulas that are pretty standard, but they are never limited by that.
