Hello,
My wife and I recently set the paperwork in motion for divorce. I then moved back to the West Coast to find work, while she is still on the East Coast. The problem we have now is trying to obtain financing for a new/used vehicle. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was allowed or would this be in contempt of court (even before or after a docket number has been issued)? I know our finances are basically frozen while we fill out the financial Affidavits, but is acquiring new debt completely unacceptable until the official divorce is final? (after the 90 day wait period.)
Thanks

You can incur debt in the normal course of business. It is not likely an divorce issue so long as your credit is not used to obtain financing and you are not a co-signor on the loan.
