I was under the impression that I was married to Mr. Loser for the last 20 plus years. When I was finally able to get away without being beaten to death, he tells me that he was never legally married to me. That made me estatically happy. What he meant was this: He married me on Dec 16, 1988 but his divorce to his first wife was not final until June of 1989. I want my maiden name back. Do I still have to pay for a divorce or is there a way I can show bigamy and get my maiden name back? Please help!!!

You need to check with a lawyer. You may still need to get a divorce depending on the laws in your state. Since you lived together as man and wife for so long, whether or not the actual marriage was valid, you may still be considered man and wife by state law. And if you're going on just what he told you, that would be a big mistake.
