My boyfriend is stationed in Korea in the Air Force and is 3 months away from his divorce being final. He has been ordered to cease all communications with me by his Flight Chief. He had previously explained the situation to his First Shirt and was told just to keep it private, which we have done. I am in the states and we have not had sex. Due to a previous indiscretion before me, he was placed on some sort of "bad list" and is being reassigned to a base in the states in the next few months.The only proof of our communications is through email, letters, and messages. They did a room inspection and found pictures of me and went through his computer and found our communication. Now his orders are to cease all communications with me even after the divorce is final. Can they do that?

He was told to stop contact with you now, while married? He was also told to have no contact after the divorce?

If he is stumped, all he has to do is go to JAG, or his IG rep and find out if it is a legal order. If he is going to choose to contact you, one of two things is happening, he is risking discipline or no one will be able to say anything. If he gets a legal opinion on this, he is much better off than some barracks lawyer telling him what he can and cannot do. After all when they come down on someone, chances are it will not be the good freaking idea fairy who told him that it was ok. Tell him to find out through official channels.

He is feeding you a line of bull. He is off at the juicy bars in Osan having a great time.
He can talk to who ever he wants to, especially after a divorce. Those would not be lawful orders. And there is no such thing as a "bad list". And there is no reason anyone doing a dorm inspection would have any authority to search his computer. That is ridiculous.

Is she underage? Having a picture of an unclothed underage girl would give them the authority to search his stuff.

I'm with the other posters, it doesn't seem that the military could order you not to contact a certain person EVER and that's what seems to be happening.
There might be more to this story than you're aware of. In addition, I don't know anyone in the military that leaves their computer out in the open **people do steal** but that surely doesn't give anyone the right to search through it.
1004SRS had a point -- how old are you? Are you under 18?
What's interesting to me is the mention of **previous indiscretion** What was it exactly? There truly is no such thing as a **bad list**
The answer to your basic question is no, they can't tell him who to speak to at any time, as long as you're not a terrorist, spy, etc.
However, I would also, if I were you, do some further investigation into the statements that he's making.
