Piggybacking off of AH's thread below we can all state what child support is for, but who decides what it should be used for and what it should not be used for. It seems there is no accountability for many receivers of child support. I think if there is a child support review (especially in states where only NCP income is taken into play) the receiver should list an accounting of expenses.
My cousin pays her truck note and her travel trailer payment with her kid's child support. WRONG!!!

Well, in my ex's defense, when she bailed her fvck buddy out, the child support wasn't enough, so she pawned the diamond earring my mother had given to our daughter (the last piece of jewelery my father gave her before he died).
And yes, I got them back when she defaulted at the pawn shop.

- It's not there for the CP to use to live on when they decide to work only 10hrs a week.
- It's not there to support a subsequent child by a new husband because you don't have enough money to do it yourself since you only work 10 hrs a week
- It's not there to support a non working new husband

So the kids don't ever ride in said truck or use said travel trailer?
Also, is there other income in the house? If so, you are going to have a hard time proving that it is used for that. My child support goes into the same account as my salary does. I pay all bills out of said account.
An accounting? No way should an ex have that much control over the other ex.
But I do have to wonder, since child support usually doesn't even begin to cover the cost of raising a child, having an accounting would probably increase child support across the board. Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it. And not like the result.

But if she's paying the truck and trailer, how's she feeding/clothing/housing the child?
I've always thought that an accounting should be available upon request WITH stipulation. Whichever is in the wrong PAYS for the accounting and has the CS modified based on it, and also to provide a 3 strikes your out situation where necessary.

And BTW, if the child isn't being taken care of sufficiently, and she's not spending at least the amount equal to, and somewhere above, the CS on the child's expenses (which does include part of the cost of at least one vehicle to transport the child to the doctor/daycare/etc.), then no, it is not for the cost of the truck and trailer payments. But just to ask if it is for those, one would have to know the rest of the situation.

Depends... just because that particular money was used for those items doesn't mean anything as long as she used her own money on the kids instead. If cs doesn't hit until the 15th, do you think it affects my kids? No... I take care of all of it, when cs comes in, it's reimbursement.

The state of Texas allows my cousin to live off of child support from two different men and not work. She lives, rent free with my (lesbian) aunts, puts her kids in daycare, and does not work. It is a shame really. She was a "dancer" met some trust fund baby, had a fling and it turned out to be her most lucrative night on the pole.
