mental abuse

So upset. STBX respoded to my petition for divorce. He has never really been respectful to me and never demaded our children to be. They are good kids but occasionally you can see they aren't as polite to me as they are to their dad. ANyway, he cheated on me twice and ran all over creation while I kept the house going for over 20 years and now he runs off permenantly thinking sending money occasionally is enough to avoid divorce. Now he is scrambling with his attoreny jacking up his budget, took a lower paying job, moved one of the kids in with him. I THINK in and atttempt to lower his CS and alimony. The kicker was today with his response. He is accusing me of mental abuse! I can't believe it. Its jsut killing me to think what hes feeding my son that lives with him. I just don't get it. I never have done anything to this man. He acts like I am trying to take him for everything. He knows I'm not like that, I just want a fair share and then leave me alone.

Divorce is a difficult thing. No one ever marries with an eye toward divorce. When the divorce is filed and there is no agreement, allegations fly. Usually both ways. There are usually three sides to the story, his, hers and some reality in between. Your reality is filtered through your experience. Not necessarily wrong, but there are two sides to any story. Ultimately, marriages break down based on communication. That is compunded in divorce. You must be strong. Support your arguments and hope for a reasonable resolution.
