No because... [Re: pinktiger]
      #7386 - 01/10/05 07:17 PM

I was on the airplane leaving Las Vegas the day it was happening at the MGM right next door to the Tropicanna, where I was staying. They had the marquis up about the fight the whole week I was there, and I was actually in there playing the slots a couple nights before the fight. But I've never been interested in watching fights, so wouldn't have caught it anyway. I do have a picture of the marquis with Tyson's picture on it somewhere.

Actually the ONLY reason I watched the fight was at the time my fiance was into sports. He would watch ANY type of sport out there even golf and sumo wrestling...if there weren't any sports on tv- he'd be watching the sports channel about the score of all the sports. Drove me insane!! (But I learned alot about Wrestling)

will find themselves saddled with a third foot. It's just that this one will be in an unusual place.

Interesting all the viewpoints on judges. I don't fault the judges in my divorce--the lawyers were the downfall. His lawyer was the cannibal (feel my ex got a lot more than what he should've based on the responses I get from folks I tell the outcome too) while my lawyer initially looked good and then proceeded to buckle at every conflict. Go figure. I escaped with my sanity (or did I?) and except for the occasional power trip my ex goes on (he's a notorious bully), my life is rather peaceful. But (sigh) it's a long way till my daughter is 18!!!

Further proof... [Re: BabyCakes]
      #7460 - 01/11/05 08:25 PM

that those who try to play fair get walked all over. The judge should not make decisions based on who has a better lawyer. In FACT...I don't feel lawyers should even be allowed in divorce. Nor should just one judge be the sole individual to make the decision that will affect so many lives that are already in turmoil. To hold divorce proceedings in front of a small panel without attorneys for either side would even the field and give both a truly fair chance that lies will be seen through by someone.

good idea..or is it.. lets see we have two people that cant stand to be in the same room with eachother...and cant agree on anything. So while the two of you are yelling and screaming at eachother and not addressing the real issues.. the next guys divorce would take 3 years instead of 2... But if this is what you prefer some states now allow divorce by jury...not sure 6 or 12 angry divorced (screwed over by my ex) is what I would want either. I do agree the system sucks however my hell

Oh no no no... [Re: aussie928]

They'd still have the rules of court to abide by. Each has their turn to speak, then each their turn to rebut, then the panel should review any documents presented, and majority (of the panel) rules. This prevents just one individual from making an incorrect/unfair/idiot ruling which is not subject to any oversight, and removes the excessive causes of animosity by removing lawyers...putting the two on an equal field. Lawyers can help file paperwork, etc. But they should not be in the actual courtroom stirring things up.

I see what you are saying but still not sure it would work as more then likely the panel would consist of judges..so now you have 3 egos instead of 1. Take this one step further then...think you may be on to something and since its only wishful thinking anyway I will add my wishes. Panel of 3...judge...child psychologist and financial wizard..lol

I actually thought the same... [Re: aussie928]

That the panel should consist of people who might actually KNOW a little about the dynamics of such a situation. Even through in a school teacher for kids that are involved. But what's a judge know about it unless they happen to be divorced themselves?
