We're discussing/choosing a mediation lawyer. We're pretty clear on the division of everything. Only thing I'm worried about is WHAT happens if it all falls apart at the ailmony part and we can't agree? I'm ok with paying it, but, I want it similar to something is the rehab. alimony and only last for 5-7yrs. Will all this effort become null and have to start from scratch with seperate lawyers?

All the work you have done with everything else can be drafted in a memo of understanding. This MOU can be given to the attorneys to draft up a settlement agreement. The only issue is if the other party decides not to honor the MOU terms that have been written up.
I would see if you and your spouse can come up with alimony terms you both agree to first and then head over to a mediator.
