My wife and I have "temporary custody" of her two grandchildren (temporary for 7 years now). We are planning a missions trip to Romania and want to take them with us. Where can I find specific information regarding this under Tennessee law? I am not sure that we can take them with us without court permission or something. The mother is deceased and the father is a dirtbag, so he is not much of an issue, but he could become one if we do not follow the proper channels regarding this.

If you have a court order that says you are the legal guardians of the children and there are no restrictions on travel, then you shouldn't have any problems getting passports for them. You might want to consult with an attorney.
