No I only come here to vent. I would never do that to DS. I *did* point out when I found out about NJHS last year, that Dad probably didn't understand the importance/significance of joining. DS actually didn't either. Initially DS didn't want to join because of what HE perceived the organization to be. Once I explained to him how important it was academically and on college app's he was all for it. The problem is *I* had to explain it to him, not the CP in all his glory. And yes, he did have to complete the essay, get recommentations from teachers, and other stuff.

Actually I haven't spoken to Ex or Daffy Duck but once or twice this entire year. Best thing I ever did was get DS a cell phone. Now I don't even have to hear Ex- answer the phone if I call DS.

"Once I explained to him how important it was academically and on college app's he was all for it."

All for it? Is that why you had to threaten to go to his room a DRESS him?

Huh...my ex didn't even finish high school. But, he's one of the most intelligent and able people I've ever met. Maybe you're just not as intelligent as you think if this is your point of view of people.

If you will notice I carefully SAID 'book learning'. My Granddad never completed anything past 3rd grade but he built his own oil drilling set up and during the Depression had his own minor refinary on their ranch so he could have gasoline without using the gas rations.

However, to succeed in school you MUST be able to: memorize well, excel at taking tests, regurgitate whatever the teachers want, etc. THIS is what Ex- does NOT have. I do, my DD does, my son does. MY parents both had college degrees. That is where my side of the family excels.

I really don't know. I was desperate and afraid of being 'alone' I guess. And he presented a REALLY good 'family front' until after we were married. I certainly didn't know then what I know now. Hindsight being 20/20 and all. But he DID teach me enough for me to know I never want to be in a relationship again!!

Oh please, whatever he has he got it from both of you. You can take credit if it makes you feel better though.

Well even growing up in an INTACT household, my brother & I were told MANY MANY times: you got that from your <dad, mom, granddad, etc.>. You weren't??

It's just because it's "you" :) Yes, of course people get told that.

Everyone is told that. What MOST parents DON'T follow it with is, "...oh, and your {other parent} is a freaking IDIOT!"

That is ONE of your MYRIAD of problems.
