Is debt of adult son a marial debt if no knowledge

If my spouse co-signed a $40,000 FannieMae school loan for our adult son prior to separation and divorce and I had no knowledge of it nor did I consent to it, and I am ordered to pay half of the debt in the divorce, can I appeal?
