My son in law walked out on my daughter and their two children and she now lives with us. He left a trail of bad debts and unpaid mortgage and utility bills. He is now living with a married woman a couple towns away. my daughter went back to school and got training as a surgical tech and was able to get a job in an out of state hospital. She had an old Kia sportage that is 11 years old and she needs newer means of transportation. Because of his refusal to pay their debts and a bankruptsy. She needs a co-signer to apply for a car loan. They are not divorced and I'm concerned he can claim 50 %. when they do. Any ideas

Put the vehicle in your name only and borrow it to her. Once divorced, she can transfer the vehicle to her name.
