My Ex had backtaxes owed from 2000-2001 (we were not together or married during that time). He had set up a payment plan prior to our issues and I would keep him on top of paying it since for some reason when the invoice would come it came in both of our names. I am assuming this is because we filed jointly. Also my husband is self-employed and does not pay quarterly taxes so when we file IF we get a refund it would always apply to HIS back taxes. I just found out this year I could file a injured spouse form and get my portion of the refund which I did but it makes me mad that I am held liable for back taxes when I was not even with him. If he defaults on the payment plan how will that affect me since it is NOT my back taxes?
