Teenagers and work
      #759814 - 08/18/11 05:38 PM

What to do with my teenager? It's frustrating because he doesn't want to work. He does as little as possible of finding a job. I can't say he doesn't look, he does but I wouldn't even call it a try. I know in our area finding a job is difficult so the search is even harder, but there really should be a real effort. It's frustrating.

Mine are 15 and 17. Neither has any desire to even pretend to look for a job.

The 17 yo has been offered a used car by my parents, which he has not accepted because then he knows that he would HAVE to work to help pay for his insurance.

At least your's is 'pretending' to look for work.

I can't explain why anyone would be that lazy or entitled.

Make sure you aren't giving him money.....to go blow at the mall, spend on cell phones, gas for the car (if he's driving aga yet), prom, etc.

Other than that, when you find the secret.....Let me know !

My tow little tators love money, so they are always asking for jobs to do for money.

I would imagine they are just acting like thier parents, ot the parents always gave them so much that they dont think they have to do anything. One of mine used to not like what I cooked for him, I said fine then dont eat, believe it or not he started eating whatever was on the table. Kids just adapt to thier enviroment, something in yours doesnt promote folks to want to work or do anything for themselves.
