Military--Confused by DFAS

I received a letter from DFAS stating "The court order provides for a division of retainer/retired pay by stating you are entitled to 50% of the marital portion. We cannot determine what that amt or % would be. Therefore, you must obtain a clarifying order awarding either a fixed or % amt
of the member's retired pay, or which provides a formula wherein the only missing elementis the denominator (member's yrs of service)." If stated "Former Spouse is awarded 50% of the member's disposable retired pay" in the orders would DFAS reject it? Or is it necessary for me to include also the language to be used in a formula when calculating the % award? I guess my question is do I do one or the other or both? I know confused....sorry. Any little bit will help though. Next BIG QUESTION... Can anybody tell me what the hell a Qualified Military Order is and what goes in it? I feel as if a QMO is drafted it should clear up the first two questions.
