attorneys fees and how not to pay for the ex's???

ok so we are back in court after 7 years. Ex has an atty and I don't because I don't think I need one and don't want to waste the money that I could be using on my family. We are doing visitation and child support. I'm afraid they are going to ask me to pay some or all of his attys fees. How do I avoid this happening? Any suggestions or family law codes?

In my state you are required to have an attorney as you cant be one in the place for your kids.

I think you should get a lawyer to protect your self.

To answer your specific question, attorney fees are awarded at the judge s discretion. In child support modification cases the losing party may be ordered to pay the others attorney fees. This is to discourage senseless litigation.

I agree you should get a lawyer. Too much at stake.
