My 16 year old daughter has been the victim of constant bullying for two years. The school is aware but it hasn't stopped. My daughter has now been cutting and has panic attacks. She is afraid to go to school. Her psychologist submitted a letter stating she should be transferred to another district. Her pediatrician has told them that if she is not moved to another district, it will be necessary to medicate her to get through school. My child is classified. The school has refused to send her to another district. She has a security guard walking her to and from classes. I am not in a financial position to move. I have never received child support from my ex-husband.
I feel I have no choice but to have her quit school. This goes against everything I believe in as far as education, but what is being done to her on a daily basis is far more damaging to her than the lack of a HS diploma.
Does anyone have any advice? I don't know what to do in order to get the school to relocate my child. It's not fair that she loses an education.

Have her take classes online at home.

She is 16. I'm a single parent and cannot afford to quit my job. Will the state allow that? Would she get a regulara diploma or have to get a GED? Sorry for all the questions, I really don't know much about this.

First of all the school MUST do something to get the bullying of your daughter to stop. Call the school and tell them you want a meeting with the principal, vice principal and supervisor immediately. Tell them if your daughter is bullied one more time, you will be suing the school district. Tell them you want them to bring in the parents of the kids that are bullying your daughter and hold them accountable. Tell the principal you expect him to suspend the kids that are bullying your child so your child can get an education. Take the bullys away.....NOT your daughter! And tell him again you will be suing the school if this is not stopped immediately.
Do not have your child quit school. The school MUST provide her with books if you choose to have her finish her education at home. She can follow the same classes she was taking while going to school, and she can do it at home. The classroom teacher can mark her papers, assign homework and do everything from computer, instead of her being physically in the classroom, if that is your desire. YOU are in control here, NOT the school. YOUR taxes pay their salaries and your daughter is entitled to an education. Don't back down on this one.

Better yet, tell the school that you will be contacting the local paper about their lack of response - bet you anything, that they will snap to it and get something done.
