Wow. I need info. Divorcing a man after 9 years of marriage. Found out a year ago he had a whole other life after he left me a Dear Jane note and ran away to the UK to live with one of his x's. Then he sent me a letter a couple of months later with his heartfelt regrets and apologies. I said no way, not again. So he left her and moved in with his next victim. He is in the UK (his citizenship). I don't know where, don't care - except that I want to divorce the rat. I have stumbled over the QDRO and my retirement. I have lost my house, everything I worked for all my life and should retire in a few years. I started my job, pension before we married, but the majority of my retirement savings happened while we were married. He left me with a Durable Power of Attny to sign his name on anything, but my bank ignored it, as did the IRS. So I don't know what will happen. I do not know where he is and will make attempts to find the rat as required for my divorce on the grounds of abandonment, but I need advice on keeping MY hard earned retirement while he spent everything else I could bring in and left me with huge debt and a foreclosed house. Starting over at my age has been tough, but planning for a retirement that doesn't require 50 recipies for dogfood and loving it is my main goal. Any advise?

If you don't know where he is or can't find him you can get a divorce with service by publication. Your retirement fund will remain yours. No QDRO.
