Writing in the date of my marriage I did this, 17/12/10. I was married on the 17th of December 2010. My mother looking through my forms says that I should do this, 12/17/10. Now in the UK its always day, month, year. My mother is saying that in the US its month, day, year (which makes no sense to me at all!). Anyway, I told her that they would know that 17 was the day because there are only 12 months. She is worried that it may mean having to redo all of my papers. I haven't filled in other dates yet as I want to wait until I have to file and notarize.
Do I have to change day/month/year to month/day/year?
Thanks for all the help

Yes, it's month/ day/year in the US, stick to that. Sometimes you will see something like " this Fist day of December, 2011" but never 1/12/2011

Ok I will stick to that but does this mean I have to correct the few places I used the wrong date format? In other words would they make me do the papers over again if I tried to file them.

Every date is important, but they are not going to check your date of birth and date of marriage for filing purposes. It may just wind up an error with no consequences.
