Welp, it's that time again. Not sure what to get DH this year. I did get him a Kindle Fire..I'm tired of hard back books being all over the place..other then that, I'm not sure what to get him. So what's everyone else getting their Dh or SO this year??? Maybe I'll get some great ideas..!!

No great ideas here - we gift to each other something big for the house - this year it is a new side door with the blinds on the inside plus the guy to put it in.

It has been in about 3 weeks now and we love it.

If you get the Kindle you need money to buy the books. :) Amazon gift cards are good to go along with it.

Or the prime thing?? I can't remember what it is called but we are thinking about doing that for my mom. It has a book loan, like a virtual library, that is free is you belong to the ...whatever its called. lol. The woman reads 3-4 books a day sometimes.
There are more benefits to it but we only talked about the book loan.

I had an elderly patient tell me he wasn't going to buy his wife anything this year because she did use the gift he gave her last year. I asked what the gave her.....and he said a cemetery plot.....and his tone sounded like he was serious!

I cut my gift expenses this year. I had a niece state displeasure last year from the gift they received...if a $300 gift wasn't enough, a $50 gift card will have to do in the future.

We are redoing our bedroom this year instead of presents. Flooring and paint, and new decor. We have agreed NO OTHER PRESENTS and I'm sticking with it.

I wanted to buy him a new rod and reel. Does your SO have any hobbies? Fishing, hunting, camping, needlepoint, stamp collecting?

Ouch.. a nicer story...My dad was in rehab after his open heart surgery. Got a roommate, old guy, had to be mid 90's if he was a day. Stick thin, bag of bones.. my dad said he would walk, endlessly.. around and around and around. My father couldn't figure out how he even stood up never mind did so much walking. Apparently he normally lives at an assisted living place.. with his wife.. still. She was still there, and he was doing WHATEVER it took, JUST so he could get back to her! So sweet!

Ex husband I'm done shopping for. Picked up one other small thing for him last month, otherwise he's been done since the summer. Former stepdaughter, i have a few things for her. DD, she had specific things, and really that's all she's going to get. Santa is bringing a fijit (god help me and the cats, who will lose their minds over this obnoxious thing) and a go go walkin' pup. I'm assigned Olivia stuff, lol. Oh and the parachute santa at CVS ($3.. gotta love it!). My mother I got a few things for, including an insanely expensive alpaca wool blanket that reminds me sooo much of one we had from her grandmother when I was a kid. My dad.. clueless :( No freaking idea.

Assuming ex is celebrating Christmas with dd on the 10th/11th. He cancelled the actual Christmas holiday with dd and hasn't responded to my invitation to come up here to spend it with dd. So I'll be preparing their Christmas stuff early. And that's it. I'll host Christmas... highly untraditional.. pasta :):)

Anyone use the Kindle Fire? My son wants one, but I think he sees it as a cheaper Ipod. Can you browse the web on it? He likes to watch the news and ESPN... He reads magazines, but more sports oriented.

The nontraditional meal seems to fit the nontraditional Christmas!
