First time in my life that "I" retained an attorney! I went in and signed the Petition for Contempt and Motion to Modify today. No more waiting on CSE to do anything (since they won't). Ex will be in for a shock...but I did warn him 3 times since summer that if he doesn't start paying CS, then I would retain an attorney and take him to court. I guess he didn't believe me.

He probably thinks he can continue to get away with it, since he always has!
Good for you! Proud of you:)

Awesome! Does he have a job? If not, he better get one fast! Good for you- your son deserves the support.

Yeah, he's had a well paying job since May. And I mean he is making GOOD money. He got a promotion a few months ago, to supervisor. Bad thing is...looks like he is being paid under the table. I have his company contact info and CSE did try to send out a wage garnishment. No luck.
What's worse than a parent that won't work and support their child? Is a parent that HAS a well paying job and still doesn't' support his child.

I agree! I hope you can make some leeway. I remember with BM she went on and on about how she has no money and she has to shop at the Dollar store. Yet her FB clearly showed her with tons of bags at the mall- I know WHO takes pics of themselves outside the door of a shop at the mall?
Anyway, turns out she was making $50k/year not the $30k she tried telling us. H allowed her to give based on the $30k salary because at least she would be paying something and he said he wasn't out to make her poor. At least SOME CS is better than NO CS.
Let us know how it turns out! Wishing you lots of luck!

I def. will! The only thing I'm worried about is...he is friends with his boss (the company owner) and now his wife is working as the office manager...I'm afraid they will "fudge" how much he really makes. My atty said that if he has to, he will subpoena his boss and most of the time..the owners will not lie on the stand for an employee.

The only problem I see with getting a lawyer for CS is that if your ex doesn't want to pay than he won't and you will be spending money that you don't have and won't receive.
Good luck

Well, I paid $500 to the lawyer, and that takes care of the filings and him appearing in court for me...plus a few other things. This atty knows my family and is a really really good guy...and very honest! lol He's good about payment plans if it goes beyond this (which hopefully it won't). I'm not willing to continuously throw money at an atty to get my ex to start paying. I'm just giving it a shot now (and I had to wait for our income tax to do this). Hopefully it will work!

I know at least here - having an attorney and going straight to the judge usually works a lot quicker than going through CSE...also depending on the county and caseload, etc.
Maybe you said - but when will there be a hearing, or do you know yet? Has he been served?
