Fireproof and Courageous were two movies that I really hated.....so predictable.... My daughter even didn't like them and my son walked away from them.
I wonder if CS Lewis movies like Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe are G? I have those books on tapes from 8 years ago...... What series was it..... Books about end of times.....boogers.... What was it? Anyway, I have the whole series ...let me go check on what it is.....Timothy something was the writer......

I think you are talking about the "Left Behind" series (I read them all and enjoyed them) I know the movies that were made are PG so the books probably would not be allowed..

Actually I wrote that the books do not have to be about God, but have to have a loving message- that was for anyone.
I wanted help specifically from some Christians because we are lacking IN THAT specific area of books that may help kids. ETA: If I offended, I apologize. I did feel the need to get some ideas from other Christians.
I posted TO Christians more specifically because I didn't want this thread to be about religion and me going into a juvenile correctional facility to beat kids over the head with Bibles which I DO NOT DO.
I talk to these kids about LIFE, about EDUCATION, about the mistakes they have made, about how they can CHANGE their lives. Yes, I talk about God because they are coming into my group to learn about God. They are not forced...it is of their own free will that 80 kids (half the facility) come to the service and worship my church family provide at the facility. They choose church OVER basketball, free time and video games. I am helping to put the Library together to feed both minds of those who want to learn about God and other books with loving messages.

We have the Left Behind series already. I would assume it is rated G, unless that is just the rule for us bringing in new things. My children both LOVED Fireproof. They will watch it over and over... Unfortunately is is rated PG. I believe Narnia was on the list so that is probably rated G.

Yes, you should not do that, grab the dictionary, much more effective. Why would anyone be offended at this project, just because you used the word Christian....these days you need a quantifier for everything....will the linsanity ever stop......

Actually, checking with some of the local churches would probably give you a bunch of good ideas. I would imagine they have all kinds of youth reading lists. The grid iron gang :) Holes.....so many stories of redemption, and other positive messages, and how kid's changed their own lives, whether it was through religion, or not....even the local libraries.

I just believe that I should be given the chance to right my words if I offended anyone- not my intention- before I am JUDGED by my heart. No one knows someone's heart, I did not decide to volunteer my time at this facility to beat anyone up. These kids are a NUMBER to most, I am there to find out their names and to be a listening ear. I could not believe how appreciative these boys were just to have someone listen to them and call them by name. I do not beat people into believing in Jesus and I do respect those who do not.
Yes you are right. Local libraries is a great idea. Books with a great message is perfect and for those of you who have ideas on books with a Christian message is great too.
