Copies of my kids birth certs. Marriage cert. Divorce papers. And kids ss info? He called and asked for it yesterday. It sounds off to me but I cant figure out what he is up to. Nevermind the fact that I am not his secretary wife or mom and he should have his own copies of most of it. Any thoughts? (Typing on a kindle fire sorry for mistakes and no commas)

Trying to get welfare benefits? I think you need most, if not all of that, to receive welfare.

Hmmmm...maybe...I don't remember if we had to give our kids birth certificates and SS info when we filed back in 2009...I'm wanting to say we didn't...but I could be wrong.

I've never filed.. I have everything for my ex's filing (he committed bankruptcy fraud using our daughter). I'd have to go through the package and see what was in there. Just a thought. I'd be more inclined to think you're right with welfare.. maybe disability? Something like that where you're getting state or federal benies.

Maybe he is getting passports, completing his files, getting insurance (life, medical) on him and the kids, filing taxes, could be several reasons.
When we filed bankruptcy due to medical and we did not need the kids birth certificates, SS#'s or hubby's divorce certificate.
How do you commit bankruptcy fraud as in "using our daughter?"

My ex artificially inflated the amount of child support, court ordered, for our daughter. That was one item, he also failed to disclose his 2nd job. Anyway, he was court ordered to pay $25 a month, he inflated it to $500.

why would EX need...Copies of my kids birth certs. Marriage cert. Divorce papers. And kids ss info?
---> Life insurance? Disability? Did you ask him?
he should have his own copies of most of it
---> Were copies made at the time of the divorce?

I have given him kids ss info multiple times. Also he lost birth cert during our marriage I ordered copies for my use after divorce for schools etc. I doubt welfare but guess its possible.
He said (after having them on it tor 2 years) that his insurance is doubting that our kids are his. Why would they suddenly doubt it after covering them for two years? Seems fishy to me. Plus I asked a few insurance people I know and all said our cs mod paperwork where it States he has to carry insurance on them should be more than enough.

Wouldn't need any of that for life insurance, no way.
I would highly doubt it's for medical insurance either.
Never heard of having to provide any of those pieces of paper for either insurance, never mind ALL of them. From a medical insurance standpoint I've been dealing with issues the last two years.. specific pages from my Agreement is most I've had to provide.
I'd still say some kind of aid.. The Feds are the only ones gonna get into that much detail/info.

---> Then that is what I would tell him; and that he can request copies (and pay for them).
---> I gave the ex the originals of our children's BC and SS Cards when I gave him physical custody and made copies for myself. What I should have done was requested certified copies of the BCs and given those to him as he lost the original 'certificate' ones. I doubt welfare but guess its possible.
---> True...if he were trying to claim the children.
He said (after having them on it tor 2 years) that his insurance is doubting that our kids are his. Why would they suddenly doubt it after covering them for two years? Seems fishy to me.
---> Could be because he been covering someone else's kids that he shouldn't have? If so, the insurance company would ask for proof of biology snd/or court order.

My employer did a fraud investigation as many employees were carrying kids on thier family health insurance plan that weren't thier's or elegible. All employee's had to submit s.s.#'s, copies of birth certificates, divorce papers (if applicable) and sign affidavits (sp?) that dependent children they were claiming were actually thier's.

I had to show all of that to re-add everyone when my company switched carriers. The first carrier didn't even blink when I added my SKs. But I distinctly remember the second required that either my spouse had primary custody OR my spouse was ordered to provide insurance or they wouldn't allow it. DH was ordered to cover them, but I had to provide BCs, cetified copy of the order, and our marriage license. It was a huge PITA.

Thanks everyone. I told him I would scan copies of the birth certs but the stamped copies weren't leaving my hands. He should have divource papers and if not he can run down to the court house and pay to get copies. I've done it and it isn't hard.
I don't trust them and wanted to see if anyone knew of something that required this info to pull off. I don't want to go to court ($$) but am not worried if I do. I like to be prepared ahead of time.
I can handle anything that was brought up here.

These are all items that the ex can inquire for themself.
All the ex has to do is fill out the paperwork, pay the appropiate fees and provide proof of who they are and bingo, next thing you know they have copies of any paperwork they need.
So simple an ex can do it...lol.

Depends. I had to provide a BC and SS info for all of my kids for insurnace when I started my job. My x had to provide the same. Neither of us needed marriage and divorce papers because we were the primary carrier, not a spouse. My employer will only cover stepchildren if they live primarily with the employee. A CO saying the parent is ordered to cover doesn't cut it if the kids live with the other parent. The parent would have to find other means of insurance.
I understand him needing the divorce papers but not the marriage certificate. Obviously if you have a legal divorce you were legally married.
