Ive been with my husband for 13 1/2 years and in july married for 11. he is emotionally and verbally abusive also in front of the children, i used to be the bread winner until i became disabled in 2006. I am in the process of my appeals for Social Security Disability. We just bought a house a month ago but it is under his name alone since my credit is not so good, he also co-signed with his brother a year ago for another house that his parents are living in. we have a joint account which i am not allowed to have a debit card to and he has a savings account in his name only with about $10k....If i ask him for $5 he asks me what its for. we have 3 kids and I dont have a dime in my wallet in case of an emergency or if i just want to take them somewhere. I told him i wanted a divorce and since he was born in mexico and knows he would have to pay child support and alimony he says he would just work under a different social security # or just go back to mexico..what are my rights or what can i do?
