It just bugs me when the government thinks that they can FORCE private businesses to provide a certain level of benefits. I much prefer the "supply and demand" method, where a PRIVATE business offers what it feels will draw the employees that they want. If the current level of benefits and pay do not draw the employees they want, they will UP the wage or benefits to get what they want.

But what we are talking about is NOT something you are BORROWING, as in the hitch hiking version, or PAYING for, as in the limo version.

A better analogy would be a CAR LOT, where there are levels of cars. You know what you can AFFORD, and what you WANT, and you reach a happy medium in between.

So if an organization wants a healthcare option WITHOUT birth control, they should be able to BUY one. And if the employees want BC covered, they can buy extra insurance, or pay for it themselves.

I guess what is bugging me the MOST is the MINOR cost that is associated with what these people are "demanding".

BC comes in a few forms. For men, there is, essentially, ONE, condoms, and I have NEVER EVER seen a healthcare plan that offered to pay for CONDOMS. Of course, most health departments GIVE THEM AWAY, so that is moot.

Now, we move on to female BC. There is the pill, which is a prescription, costing about $20 a month, so $224 a YEAR. Then there is something like Depo shots, which my daughter gets for $20 every three months, so that is about $80 a year. Of course, there is sponges and diaphrams, etc, but those are not usually covered by insurance either.

Now, if you are working a job that offers health insurance, is $20 a month or $20 every three months REALLY that much? Especially for something that is NOT life saving. We are not talking about insurance that doesn't cover BRAIN surgery or something.

Of course, on a lighter note, the main complainers about having to provide BC is the religious groups, and I wonder why they need insurance at all. I mean if God decides you are getting sick and dying, no doctor or insuance can help. If EVERYTHING is in God's hands...why not medical bills as well? LOL

Truthfully, gd, I'd like to see a price difference between the plans that the religious groups are deciding between.

I don't know that many people who work for religious organizations now. When I worked for a religious hospital, that was 25 years ago.....and the health care plans we could choose from where the same 'name' plans as many in the general public had access to from their employers. The plans were the same as those offered by non religious employers. BCP's were covered. I don't know about IUD's and abortions. Mirena and Depo weren't around then. I've NEVER known a health care plan that covered condoms.

I'm imagining a religious organization buying standard plans that include some reproductive services and trying to have them excluded. I don't know for sure that that is the case. I'm assuming that because the only plans that I've known of ARE standard plans.

...if the founding fathers of this country would have been more specific or more clear when they wrote the Constitution if they were aware of the following:

>>>>>>>>> Hehe . Considering the " FFs" were okay with SLAVERY I doubt they'd really give a crap .

Some were, some were not, it was actually a sticking point for many of the "FF's".

Considering slavery lasted past the adoption of the CONSTITUTION I'd say the point is moot .

You're ridiculous .

OMG , don't take your soda away but " seperate but equal " is aok .
