Hello everyone, im new here i just read this and i have the same issues, my case he makes$200 plus thousand for the past 3-4 years now his let go but still making same amount plus health benifits and everything for 6 mos. now his trying to get me to sign his proposal and thats include no spousal support we have two kids he will pay child support but no alimony but i didnt work for 15 years bec he have some issues of me working in the real world, so now were divorce process i petition bec i cant take it anymore he will put a proposal in the table but the thing is he letirally rob infront of me, i have lawyer but its jst so hard bec his his been controlling my life andeverything but i want out. sometimes when down moment comes i think of just go settle..

Jen,
You should really always start your own thread. Especially in this case, the thread is months old and off the front page of the forum.
You have a lawyer, USE him ! Listen to his advice about when and if you should sign a settlement. Realize that your ex is now unemployed and his severence will soon run out. How feasible is it that he will be able to get another job in the same salary range ?
Whether you are getting spousal support or not, you should also be working to help support your kids, even if it is at a minimum wage job. Wanting out means standing up for yourself.
