Had an extensive blood test done to determine my risk factors for heart issues. Seems I am at high risk for heart attack due to the high number of "small particles" of cholesterol and not enough of the larger particles. Also risk of blood clots, hereditary it appears. Have to wear support hose if I take long plane/car trips. Have to take Vit D once a week, aspirin, statin, fish oil (which I have been taking the past month or so), continue with the anti depressant for at least a year. SO, hate getting old. I have too much "fat" around my organs, so low fat diet is in order, as well as quitting smoking. Really???? Do you want me to be a TOTAL BYOTCH????? LOL. Ok, it's a stretch, but I have to take baby steps, so will work on one thing at a time. Pray that I have the strength to follow thru. I am not ready to leave this earth yet, much less from a heart attack or cancer.

I bet if you dropped your stepdaughters out of your life that your health would improve.

Did they do a plaque score? If so... what was it? I just had mine done and it was a 0... but I am not too much overweight, (hell according to all national standards we are ALL overweight)... I am not obese and I can lose 15 lbs.. I have extremely low chloseterol and I have never been a smoker and my blood pressure was only 100/71... BUT, I did find out I have high blood sugar so they are doing the pre screen for type I diabetes.... I think honestly it's my lupus- but I've made a lifestyle change.... Low carb, Low fat.. no sugars for 3 months.... they will screen again....
You can do it.. I mean, frankly what's the alternative? That was the way I looked at it when they told me about the diabetes.... totally out of left field... I had a good cry home and then said.. well...this is it..... gotta do it... so... chin up... it's easier to change your sails then the direction of the wind!! Good luck!

Runs - have you tried Paleo diet?
We are doing it - the first week I was so tired I thought I was pregnant from the insulin adjustment. But after that I felt like I had more energy than I'd had in years. DH has lost 25 lbs, me not as much, but my body does not like to shed pounds when I am nursing.

It was started a long time ago by Dr. Lorne Cordain. The basic premise being that we eat a lot of things that we are not biologically meant to eat and if we go back to cave man style eating we will be healthier - he points to many indigenous peoples whose diets would be considered "unhealthy" yet enjoy remarkable health. He also goes into details of the biochemistry, which I appreciate as a ChemE. According to his research many people with chronic illnesses (like lupus, exczema, RA etc.) see an improvement once they stop irritating their bodies.

Char when you get overwhelmed...and you will, just remind yourself of those words and regroup. You are doing great!
