236 years ago today, the representatives of the thirteen original colonies voted on and adopted the Declaration of Independence from England. I wonder if they knew what we would be today? Did they know of the strife and pain that would come? Of the victories and greatness that would develop? Of the doubt and fear of failure? Of the surety and confidence of our survival? I think they did, and it was not the good or bad that knew would come, but of the country that would be successful because it could survive the negatives and relish and grow with the positives. They created a system by which the country could and would flourish regardless of those in charge, not because any one side, left or right, would be in charge, but because neither side would be able to negate the others needs and accomplishments. Happy Birthday America, now blow out the candles and lets ALL have some cake...
