My ex to be and I agreed to handle our divorce ourselves with out lawyer involvement. I filled out the paperwork and gave it to her. She had it for a month before I filed it with the courts. On the last day for her to respond she hired an attorney. I had to as well to protect myself. That was a year ago. I gave her the house because I wanted my 2 boys to feel secure. I am paying (and have been since I left 3.5 years ago) more child support than the state requires. We went to mediation on Valentine's Day 2012 and came to an agreement on everyting. It is now August 2012 and we still are not done. Her attorney is not responding to contact attempts from my attorney and my ex to be says she is not sure what the hold up is. I signed a flat rate noncontested divorce agreement with my attorney and they are now telling me that if something doesn't happen soon they will take it to court and I will have to sign a new contract and pay a $5000 retainer. It might as well be a million. I am still trying to pay off the money I borrowed for the initial contract. There is no way I can do that so I will most likely be without representation going forward. How can I make this end? Someone please help! We are not arguing over anything and she is getting more than she asked for. What is the game??
