stock portfolio

Hi:
I am in the final stage of divorce. I am in MA.

He used to keep the stock portfolio. I know nothing about it. Now I should get part of it, what should I do to make the right choice? Should I contact a CDFA? Will my attorney have enough knowledge to advice me? The amount is not small (to me).

The stock portfolio is probably with a broker and there's an account. Are you on the account? Even if you are not, you likely have a claim to half it's value. All he has to do is give you half the value in cash. The accounts report the cash value every minute. No expertise is needed in liquidating stocks.

What did you do to EARN the money in the stock account ? What money did you EARN during the marriage ? Or do you just deserve half of everything 'cause you spread your legs ? Hooray for women's rights....
