Question: Is it financially easier on the military member if he gets divorced while on active-duty or should he wait until he voluntarily separates (not retirement/no pension) next year? Information: no kids - wife won't work - been married 1 year - mutually agree on divorce - renting home - 95% of property was purchased by me - I have two vehicles in my name but willing to give her one for free.
I've had this question for some time now but couldn't find a similar question anywhere. Any advice/insight would be great! thanks.

The longer you are married the more likely you will pay alimony. I really see no benefit in waiting.

I agree with elliesmom. I retired from military and was in pay status...time in a marriage is just one of several factors that will contribute to alimony or support. Don't wait.
