Hello - I require some honest straight answers on this question. I filed my divorce, served my "ex", waited the 30 days -received NO answer to the petition, waited the addition 20 days and filed my paperwork adminstratively. The papers have been in the Judges hands for 3 days, when I receive a call from the "ex's" attorney (didn't know) saying he was sending a letter to the Judge to hold the filing open because he was submitting an answer to my petition (54 days later) Is THIS valid? Can an attorney do this after the fact? How will the Judge proceed? Is there something I did not do correctly?
Please - anyone - The judge put the divorce papers on hold after receiving the "ex's" attorneys letter 54+ days later! It was in the hands of the judge/filed administratively - NOW they are letting him send an answer, how is this possible!?? What happens now - what do I do?

When a judge sees that an individual hired an attorney generally the judge will allow time especially if the papers have not been signed off on. You are better off with your ex responding because any thing you got in your filing can be reversed - I've seen it happen.
The courts generally give each party something and frown on one party getting "everything" they wanted.
Is it fair to you - no
You need to wait for the response and you are allowed to respond to his response.
Good Luck
