My son is thinking of divorcing his wife. Married 2.5 years. He is currently stationed in Italy. BUT she has been diagnosed with Lupus, about 4-5 months ago. Can she stay on his healthcare?? Or can she ask that he pay for TriCare after divorce? (I think he should pay for it myself..plus give her a certain amount for a year or till she can get on disability)

She will be on Tricare until the divorce is final, then she is no longer eligible for tricare. It is not a court decision, it is a DOD/DEERS issue. He will not have the choice to pay for tricare or not. Him paying anything after the divorce is a court issue, and has nothing to do with the military.
Here is the former spouse eligibility criteria.
