Alimony to be lowered by court order...

Got a divorce in 2010 and the permanent orders stated that I pay $350 in alimony per month till January 2013. It is supposed to be reduced to $250 a month in January. Do I need to do anything to make this happen or does it just automatically happen? btw I am being garnished for it(thanks ex!) so that is why I am asking if it will happen automatically...Thanks for any help

Make certain that your payroll department has a copy of the order -- bring them a new one if necessary, highlighting the portion where it states that it is supposed to be reduced to $250.

This is something that you need to make certain happens as I'm reasonably certain that your payroll department isn't checking anything like that on any type of regular basis.

I had to get something from the state to my payroll department as it is a court order it took about 2 months to get done. The good part was that the overpayment got taken from her and sent back to me.

You don't have a copy of your own court order? And if it was supposed to change in January, did you start working on it ahead of time?
