Is it legal to remove furniture you paid for from joint marital home before divorce is filed? I moved out 6 weeks ago but no legal separation or divorce has been filed. I want to move into an apartment and take furniture I paid for. Any help appreciated.

If no paperwork has been filed then it belongs to both of you. You can remove it but i wouldn't dispose of anything at this time. Your spouse could end up being awarded at least part of it. Keep good records of anything you take.

And good records and pictures of what you leave behind.
